Hello,
My name is Chris Talbot and I have been a Dodger Fan since 1962. On this blog I will be writing about the 2009 Los Angeles Dodgers as well as sharing my memorable Dodger moments of the past.
Here's a few thoughts on the first half of the 2009 season:
Who would have thought that the Dodgers would have the best record in all of baseball at the All Star Break? Not Me. I knew they would be in first place in the NL West but this is fantastic! Who would have thought that Manny would be suspended for 50 games? Not Me. I thought that he would be tearing up the league in just about every batting category but not a suspension. Well, he's back and with the exception of his tired legs, seems to have picked up right where he left off. You gotta hand it to Juan Pierre for doing such a great job in Manny's absence, he showed what a hell of a player that he really is. I've gotta believe that Clayton Kershaw is the real deal. Can this guy keep hitters off balance or what? At 21 years of age he seems to be maturing rapidly. Broxton's toe injury will keep him out of the All Star Game but he should be back soon. Randy Wolf is showing signs that he is going to be a major part of this pitching staff down the stretch. Kuroda is coming on too. Andre Either has been in a slump as of late but if you're going to be in a slump it's good to get it over with in the first half of the season. The great thing about this team is that it's not always one guy who's stepping up, one night it's Kemp, another night it's Hudson, everybody is doing their part. Joe Torre's most recent philosophy is "If we keep winning series, we'll be ok." He's got the team thinking that way too. Well...Here's to a great second half. GO DODGERS!
