San Francisco 49ers

Unless you've managed to live amongst wolves for the past two years you undoubtedly know about Michael Vick's dog fighting ring. Michael has been out of professional football for two whole seasons and most of that time was spent in prison. Although, an average American cannot return to his or her job after being imprisoned; Michael Vick can and he will, because he is a professional football player.

The Jags did well by getting two top Offensive tackles. And finally, The San Francisco 49ers got an absolute steal at 10 with Michael Crabtree. Even with an attitude problem, this guy is extre

One highlight I can truly say was watching Mike Singletary take over as coach of the San Francisco 49ers. It did my heart good to see an old school Gridiron great out there coaching the old school way. Say what you will, I loved it.

Let’s start off today with a thank you to all the men and women who have represented our country in the Armed Forces.  If it weren’t for the sacrifices that these Americans have made, we would be able to live our lives with the freedom and choice that we all enjoy.  Thank you.

He just keeps ticking, worn out old Greg Maddox won his 18th Gold Glove this past week.

The playoff seedings in the MLL are set now.  Argonaut as the number one seed gets the 3rd place team in the WAC, Calaveras in the number 2 spot gets to drive down to Escalon and Summerville travels to Modesto for a game with Central Catholic.  Prospects don't look too good for an advance to the second round of any of the three teams, but as my good friend Ben always says, "You never know."

After another scary roller coaster ride on Wall Street last week, we at least have the weekend and sports to bring back some sanity to our life. Unless of course your motto is "Go Blue" and you hail from the great state of Northern Ohio or as most of you know it, Michigan.  Who says there's no such thing as karma?

Who is going to win the World Series, the Phillies or the Rays?  The best thing about this series is that I can be fairly neutral as to who wins and just root for some good ole' fashioned baseball.

In June, a Bulldog started off as an underdog and over the course of 3 weeks became a Wonderdog.  Is it any surprise that a former Bulldog led the Rays to their first World Series appearance, in Bob Gibson like performance.

With the MLB playoffs set to begin, there is a subtle difference in the air compared to start of any other postseason. In the NHL, fans can potentially look forward to a great Canadians/Bruins series that is not only exciting, but has a historical kick to it. Likewise basketball fans always have the chance to see if the Suns can finally get past the Spurs and football fans love seeing the rivalry of the Eagles Vs the City of Philadelphia when the Eagles so much as get tackled for a loss.

The days of Shaun Alexander bull dozing his way through defensive linemen are far behind these flightless hawks. With a rushing attack lead by Julius Jones and Maurice Morris it is tough to use the run to set up the pass. With a receiving core led by recent new comers, who have no chemistry with Matt Hasselbeck it will be tough to use the pass in any situation. The Hawks may not have been the favorite in the division with their top receivers and now they're without their top three.

My #1 team(s) the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders never even made it to the playoffs - so the time has come for auxiliary cheering methods – jump on the bandwagon! I have planned out who I will be rooting for next week for sure (remaining season afterward to be determined):

ust have been since I didn’t realize I witnessed Bryant Young’s last home game with the San Francisco 49ers until it was almost over. I hate when I don’t get to pay attention to football!

Yup - we were at Monster Park today to see the San Francisco 49ers host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs didn’t really have to worry much about the game’s outcome. The team is playoff bound regardless but the 49ers wanted a win very badly. This game was QB Jeff Garcia’s “homecoming” and possibly Bryant Young’s last appearance.

Growing up with the sport pre-salary cap, you always had the old stand-bys that won. The San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders, and Pittsburgh Steelers made appearance after appearance in the post-season and nearly every other team was just window dressing. Later, when the cap came along things slowly changed. The shift has been interesting and it has taken me a bit to become accustomed to teams from smaller markets and without storied pasts gaining prominence.

My San Francisco 49ers are stinking up the place as are my Oakland Raiders. There is no hope from my San Diego Chargers either…huuuuhhhmmmmm
