Rafael Furcal

7 July 2008

MAYBE you can offer them Brian Falkenberg and Rafael Furcal’s back, but anythong more would be a travesty.

I am so sick of Dodger GMs doing nothing but screw up their good teams in the process of making little to no effect on the team itself. If they do trade for Jack Wilson, you better get Ian Snell and Jason Bay too, or Colletti should be forced to wrestle Jeff Kent’s moustache in the battle to the death. I also love how many sites are reporting that some of the players Colletti was going include in the Sabathia trade would need to be included in the Jack Wilson trade too, therefore we couldn’t get them both. Well great choice Ned, you mustached douche. Instead of pushing for the Ace pitcher that would anchor our staff for the next 7 years, you give up on that and go after a buck toothed shortstop that couldn’t power his way out of a leper colony.

In the most key of battles, though, it seems that Rafael Furcal left Las Vegas after complaining about his sore back, and this is likely to set him back even more.  As usual, this is bad news for everyone except the guy who gets to play in the big leagues in Furcal’s spot, who in this case is Jason Repko. Technically called up to replace the injured Juan Pierre, Repko had a busy hat day, trading his Las Vegas 51s cap for Dodger headgear and ultimately wearing the Golden Sombrero, striking out his first four appearance (in the leadoff spot, no less) in the Dodgers’ series-opening 4-1 loss.

And do us a favor while you're out there, give Jason Schmidt, Andruw Jones, Nomar Garciaparra, Rafael Furcal, (and Juan Pierre soon) a good ol' show of support pat on the back from their fans in Los Angeles.

ies to Andruw Jones, Yhency Brazoban, Jason Schmidt, Nomar Garciaparra, Tony Abreu and, especially, Rafael Furcal have really set the Dodgers back. However, aren’t other teams dealing with injuries too? Most of the NL West have also been nicked up; in order from most injured to least, it’s probably Rockies, Dodgers, Padres, Giants and Diamondbacks. But big contributors are out everywhere—Pujols, A-Rod, Soriano, Peavy and Big Papi, among others, have all spent time on the DL.

The Dodgers five highest paid position players are Andrew Jones, Jeff Kent, Rafael Furcal, Juan Pierre, and Nomar Garciaparra.  Furcal was having a great year before being sidelined with an injury and his return should spark the Dodgers some.  However Andrew Jones just went on the DL, but before going there he was batting .167 with 2 homeruns, not the type of power the Dodgers wanted from him.  Nomar has barely played the last couple years, and is chronically injured.  Kent is batting .234 with 4 homeruns, not what you want from your middle of the order bats.  Juan Pierre is doing what he normally does, but he is not the big bat the Dodgers need.
