If they do trade for Jack Wilson, you better get Ian Snell and Jason Bay too, or Colletti should be forced to wrestle Jeff Kent’s moustache in the battle to the death. I also love how many sites are reporting that some of the players Colletti was going include in the Sabathia trade would need to be included in the Jack Wilson trade too, therefore we couldn’t get them both. Well great choice Ned, you mustached douche. Instead of pushing for the Ace pitcher that would anchor our staff for the next 7 years, you give up on that and go after a buck toothed shortstop that couldn’t power his way out of a leper colony.

If he sticks in the rotation, he’d join C.C. Sabathia, Dontrelle Willis, Ian Snell and Edwin Jackson as the only black starters in baseball. That doesn’t sound like much until you realize that in 2004, it was only Sabathia, Willis and Darren Oliver. Thompson would bring the count to six, double what it was four years ago.

s there anything to be excited about in Pittsburgh?

Aside from a couple of good young pitchers in Ian Snell and Tom Gorzelanny, and the probable debut of centerfielder Andrew McCutchen, not a thing. In typical fashion, the Pirates did nothing to improve themselves over the winter and their awful player development leaves little to be excited about in the future. McCutchen, who will start the season in AAA, is a top 15 prospect according to Scouts, Inc. with the potential for 30 plus home runs. Even when he does get the call to the Majors, it may be a while before we see fireworks. That leaves Pittsburgh with another season of at least 90 losses.
