Earlier today I said that if you were to bet on the Dodgers, take them SU ( straight up ). For those of you who read this a listened I apologize. I figured the Dodgers wouldn't give up a game to a team doing far worse then them. With Derek Lowe pitching and the hits the Dodgers have been getting recently you would figure they would put some runs on the board. Wrong again, in the last 23 innings the Dodgers have scored 1 run while producing 34 hits. Thats ridiculous!
During this evening's game the Dodgers did manage to score a run from Nomar Garciaparra when he originally was called out at home plate. 3rd baseman Ryan Zimmerman tagged the base before throwing to home plate with the bases loaded. There for Nomar was not out on a force play, he should have been tagged out. However that would be the only run they scored during the game and it didn't even come from a hit. It's funny, when the Dodgers do get a few men on base, the double play ball is always a factor. During the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th inning, the Dodgers hit into inning ending double plays. This is key when trying to get runs and take over the division lead. Russell Martin was at batting practice early, maybe the whole team should follow. WE NEED RUN SUPPORT! The dodgers left 14 base-runners stranded last night in Philly and 10 tonight in Washington. We have great on base percentage but our hitting with runner's in scoring position is horrendous. These next 2 games will have to be won before we take on Arizona. Although as we speak they are losing to San Diego 5 - 2. Arizona holds the lead by 3 games, with 30 games left now that doesn't leave much margin for error. We'll see what happens tomorrow with Maddux vs Redding. The Dodgers have had good success against Redding, lets hope they still got it....
