Funny how as Rafael Furcal goes, so go the Dodgers.
Our catalyst can't do much to help the team when he's out with an ailing back (which can happen when you carry a team for 30 some-odd games) and all Uncle Joe can do is bide his time until he can afford to make Hu a defensive replacement again. Good thing for the Dodgers is that they've kinda found their hitting shoes after leaving Atlanta (our last 2 games notwithstanding). Bad thing is that no one on the team seems capable of ever delivering another quality start again anytime soon. Poor Scott Proctor is gonna need a therapist if he appears in as many games this year as he has the past two combined (a ridiculous 166 to be exact). Joe's been riding him like the last camel to Cairo...and if Penny ever gives up 10 earned runs in a game again MLB is likely to destroy any evidence he ever started an All-Star Game to save face.

Just when you thought it was bad posted on 04/25/2008
Sending Blake Dewitt down was an unfortunate numbers game for the Dodgers this week. Relying on Nomar Garciaparra to be your everyday 3rd baseman is a potential death sentence.
Not that anyone is dusting off the bugle for the boys in blue at this point, but last year's Gold Glove catcher, Russell Martin, just ditched the tools of ignorance in favor of an infielder's glove (I'm doubting that whoever's mitt he did trot out to 3rd was one he'd ever tried on before which has to be comforting seeing as how he's not played that position in 5 years). Add to that Andruw Jones' unique ability to leave a game with a calf injury suffered by his own batted ball and it makes for one of those nights where you wish it was raining and none of this had ever happened.
Hang in Blue Crew lovers--we may be in store for one heck of a roller coaster season. Paging Andy LaRoche! Mr. Laroche please pick up a white courtesy telephone and get healthy already will ya???
